Redding man arrested on campus

About 10:10 a.m., officers from the Redding Police Department were told a male subject was inside the Shasta College bookstore claiming to be in possession of a gun.

Upon officers arrival, college security advised the subject had left the bookstore and was riding a bicycle across the quad area. Officers located the subject and gave him several verbal commands to submit to arrest, RPD reported. The suspect failed to comply with direct orders and was physically arrested.

The suspect was identified as Charles Vincent Clinton, 61, of Redding. He was found to be in possession of ammunition on a school campus.

Upon further investigation it was learned the suspect also made statements to the bookstore employees that he Òmakes bombs.Ó

Clinton was transported and booked into the Shasta County jail for making terrorist threats, attempted robbery, possession ammunition on school campus and resisting arrest.
